Licensing
Examination Information
Effective
after the April 2000 examinations, the NBE and CCT will no longer
be administered. These examinations have been replaced by the
North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and are
administered by the National Board of Veterinary medical Examiners
(NBVME). The testing windows are November 17 to December 13, 2008
and April 13, to April 25, 2009.
You
will use the licensure application for application for the examination.
Procedures
A. If you are a student or graduate of an AVMA accredited
veterinary college or Ross University:
- Submit
a Completed State of Ohio Application with proper NOTARIZATION
and PHOTOGRAPH attached.
- If you
are a fourth year student, a letter from the dean of your
college stating that you are currently enrolled in the veterinary
program and the exact date that you will be graduating.
- If you
have graduated, a TRANSCRIPT of your veterinary college coursework
with appropriate seal DELIVERED DIRECTLY FROM THE COLLEGE/
UNIVERSITY TO THE OHIO BOARD and a photocopy of your DIPLOMA.
- Have
three (3) letter of PERSONAL REFERENCE submitted to the Board.
These letters must comment on your "good moral character"
from any adult who has known you for at least a year and is
not a member of your family.
- Submit
a cashier's check or money order in the amount of $50.00 made
payable to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board to
cover the processing fee.
B.
If You Are A Graduate Of A Foreign School:
- You must
be enrolled in the ECFVG program.
- You must
have completed the ECFVG Step 3.
This is effective with the November-December, 2007 testing
window.
- A letter
from the ECFVG Committee confirming that you are enrolled
and have completed Step 3 must be submitted directly to the
Board.
- Have
three (3) letter of PERSONAL REFERENCE submitted to the Board.
These letters must comment on your "good moral character"
from any adult who has known you for at least a year and is
not a member of your family.
- Submit
a cashier's check or money order in the amount of $50.00 made
payable to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board to

DEADLINE FOR FILING THE ABOVE:
For the November to December 2008 testing window: August 6, 2008.
For the April 2009 testing window: January 7, 2009.
After
the requirements have been met, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing
Board will send you a notice of eligibility and will forward the
list of eligible candidates to the NBVME.
You must directly submit your examination fee to the NBVME. You
may register online at www.nbvme.org.
You will receive instructions directly from the NBVME regarding
the actual administration of the examination.
